We have compiled a great list of common questions and answers about singing lessons
I teach students of all ages, from those as young as 5 years old to those well over the retirement age - thankfully singing is a skill that can be developed at almost any age. If you are able to talk or hum then you have the ability to use your voicebox in a melodic way - no matter what your age.
That is completely up to you, the student. I cover a whole range of different genres, helping students passionate about rock, addicted to pop or crazy about musicals to learn to sing through the songs that they are passionate about. Whatever your musical tastes we will incorporate them within the course of lessons to ensure that you learn in the most interesting and engaging way for you as a student.
I am a mobile singing teacher, so am able to travel to you so you can learn to sing in the comfort of your own home. Many students really enjoy not having to worry about travelling to lessons, getting stuck in traffic or the costs of using public transport. For more information simply get in touch.
Yes, I have studied classical vocals at Lithuania's National Music Conservatoire for 4 years before attending the London College of Music to study Jazz Vocals with the amazing Tina May, Iain MacKenzie, Pete Cook and Pete Churchill. I have graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Music with Honours First Class degree and have been awarded a First Class Licentiate of the London College of Music. Recently in 2016 finished a Masters MMus degree in Music Performance through a Scholarship programme with Distinction.
Not at all, while some of my students - especially younger students due to the additional UCAS points on offer for higher grades - do take grades many of my students simply learn for pleasure. There is no pressure to take any grades during our time working together on improving your voice - though for those students who are interested in it I would be more than happy to teach you.
Not much at all - a bottle of water and a small notepad would be useful, but there is nothing you will need to bring. I have all the equipment here to be able to give great music lessons that you will enjoy.
Absolutely, name me someone who isn't nervous about singing in front of people. Even experience performers, including some of the best-known pop stars, get nervous - however, great teachers have a way of helping to put you at ease to enable you to concentrate on learning to sing as soon as you walk through the lesson door.
That very much depends on your own definition of what singing is and when you have achieved it - for example even after a few months many of my students will have the confidence and technical ability to sing in front of friends and family at one of the relaxed open mic nights that we do. At this point, their vocal ability will enable them to deliver a song of their choice in a way that listeners can enjoy. From here you can continue to develop your voice, enabling you to move on to impress the audience - this can take several years, then thereafter mastering the voice so you can have a world-beating vocal ability can take a whole lifetime of dedication - indeed, I still see myself as someone who is continuing to develop my voice.
I would be happy to help you out with that. There is a great range of recording and rehearsal studios in Milton Keynes where anyone can go in and make a recording.
